Privacy Policy

Soccer Addicted (socceraddicted.com (opens in a new tab)) is a football news portal operated by a Brazilian company (CNPJ 67.281.797/0001-13), which acts as the controller of the data described here. This policy explains, in plain language, what data we process when you visit the site, why, and what your rights are. For any privacy matter, write to contact@socceraddicted.com.

We do not require an account for you to read the site, and we do not collect your name or ID. Your e-mail is only processed if you subscribe to the newsletter, and a notification subscription only exists if you turn on goal alerts; both are described below. As you browse, we automatically record audience data: pages visited, edition language, referring page, the browser used (its User-Agent), whether the link that brought you carried a Facebook or Instagram click marker (only yes or no, never the click code) and a random, anonymous session identifier, used only for our newsroom's aggregated statistics. To count returning readers, your browser keeps only the date of your last visit, with no identifier, for up to 90 days, and each arrival records only whether you had visited before and how many days ago.

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure our audience (most-read pages, countries, devices). Google may use its own cookies and identifiers for this. Advertising

the site displays (or will display) Google AdSense ads. Google and certified partners may use advertising cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, so-called personalized advertising. You can opt out of personalization at adssettings.google.com (opens in a new tab). Where the law requires it, personalized ads are only shown with your consent.

YouTube API Services

we publish our own videos to the YouTube channels we own using the YouTube API Services. Our newsroom tool uploads the file, the title and the description; it does not read, collect or store any data about YouTube viewers, and it does not access any channel other than our own. By using YouTube features you are also agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service, at www.youtube.com/t/terms (opens in a new tab), and the Google Privacy Policy, at policies.google.com/privacy (opens in a new tab), explains how Google handles data. The only accounts connected to the tool are our own channels: we never request access to a reader's Google account. Any access you have granted to applications can be reviewed and revoked at myaccount.google.com/permissions (opens in a new tab).

Newsletter

if you subscribe, we keep your e-mail address, the language of the edition you subscribed from and the dates of the request, the confirmation and, where applicable, the unsubscription, in order to send you the Soccer Addicted newsletter in that language. Subscription uses double opt-in: it only takes effect after you click the link we send to the address, and until then the address receives nothing but the confirmation e-mail. If the subscription is not confirmed within 30 days of the last confirmation e-mail, the address is deleted. Every newsletter e-mail carries an unsubscribe link that works at any time; the confirmation e-mail does not, because the subscription does not exist yet: if you did not request it, just ignore it, and the address is deleted within that period. When you unsubscribe, we keep the address only with an unsubscribed flag, so that it receives nothing further and cannot be re-subscribed by someone else; if you prefer, ask for permanent deletion at contact@socceraddicted.com. Delivery is handled by Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., United States), which processes the address as our processor, solely to deliver the messages on our behalf. To prevent abuse of the form, the IP address of the request is used for up to 15 minutes in an in-memory counter and is not stored.

Goal alerts (notifications)

if you turn on goal alerts for your club, your browser creates a notification subscription, and we store its technical address and the keys the browser generates to encrypt the messages, the club you chose, the edition language and the date. None of this includes your name or e-mail. Alerts are delivered through your own browser's notification service (Google's, Mozilla's, Apple's or Microsoft's, depending on the browser). To stop them, turn the alerts off with the same button or remove the notification permission in your browser settings. Turned off with the button, the subscription is deleted immediately; with the permission removed, it is deleted on the next send, when the browser's service reports it as ended.

Consent

on your first visit, a notice lets you accept or decline measurement and advertising cookies. Your choice persists for future visits and can be changed at any time via the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer. Declining does not block any content.

Legal bases (GDPR and similar laws)

we process data based on your consent (analytics and advertising cookies; the newsletter, ticked in the form's checkbox and confirmed through the link sent to your e-mail; and goal alerts, turned on by you and allowed in your browser) and on legitimate interest (essential, non-identifying measurement for the operation and security of the service, and keeping the address of those who unsubscribed from the newsletter, so that it receives nothing further). You can withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before.

Your rights

you may request access, correction, deletion or portability of personal data, and object to processing, by writing to contact@socceraddicted.com. We respond within a reasonable time, free of charge. The audience data we keep is anonymous by design. The newsletter e-mail and the goal-alert subscription are personal data: you can leave the newsletter through the link in any e-mail, turn off alerts with the button itself, and ask for both to be deleted at the same address. You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.

Retention and transfers

aggregated statistics are kept indefinitely; raw browsing records are limited to what the operation requires. The newsletter e-mail is kept while the subscription exists: an unconfirmed one is deleted 30 days after the last confirmation e-mail, and that of someone who unsubscribed keeps only the unsubscribed flag, until you ask for deletion. The goal-alert subscription is kept until you turn the alerts off or the browser ends it. Google services may process data outside your country, under the contractual safeguards required by applicable law. Resend processes the newsletter e-mail in the United States, under the European Union's standard contractual clauses and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, as set out in its data processing agreement. Your browser's notification service may deliver alerts from servers outside your country.

The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the site or the law. The current version will always live on this page, with the date above.
