Brazilian clubs received US$212 million in the 2026 window, less than half the 2025 figure

Brazilian clubs received US$212.3 million in international transfer fees in the 2026 mid-year window, between 1 June and 2 September, according to the FIFA dashboard accessed on 18 September. That is less than half of the US$459.7 million received in the same period of 2025. The drop came in a window that broke the world market record: clubs around the world spent more than US$9.89 billion, the highest amount recorded up to that point, according to FIFA.

According to FIFA, the World Cup played a part in this. During the window, 267 players from 47 nationalities who played at the tournament moved clubs, in transfers worth more than US$3.3 billion combined. The report does not say how many of them left Brazilian clubs.

The number of departures from Brazil barely changed: there were 503 outgoing international transfers in the 2026 window, against 527 in 2025. FIFA's count is not a count of sales. It also includes loans, returns from loan and players leaving at the end of their contracts. The value, meanwhile, is the sum of the fixed fee, the conditional add-ons and the release clause declared by the clubs, converted into dollars on the day of registration.

Five windows for Brazil

Brazil's transfer income grew in every window from 2022 to 2025, from US$130.1 million to US$459.7 million, and in 2026 it fell to a figure between those of 2023 and 2024. Brazilian clubs' spending on signings from abroad also fell, from US$240.8 million to US$127.4 million. In all five windows, Brazil received more than it spent.

There is a calendar quirk in the incoming figures. For FIFA, the date of a transfer is the day on which the association of the signing club requests the player's international transfer certificate, and the 2026 period ended on 2 September. The Brazilian window, however, was open from 20 July to 11 September: signings from abroad whose certificate the CBF requested after 2 September are not included in the 292 incoming transfers or the US$127.4 million in the table.

Portugal received three times as much

Brazil was not among the five countries that received the most, in the list published by FIFA on 3 September: France (US$1.7 billion), England (US$1.43 billion), Germany (US$1.02 billion), Spain (US$773 million) and Portugal (US$642 million). Portuguese clubs had 439 outgoing transfers, fewer than Brazilian clubs, and received three times as much, Portugal's highest figure in the five windows on the dashboard.

The gap with England is even wider. English clubs had 567 outgoing transfers, 64 more than Brazilian clubs, and received US$1.43 billion, almost seven times as much. On the buying side, they spent more than US$3.02 billion, more than clubs from any other country. In Argentina, income also fell, from US$138.6 million in 2025 to US$113.6 million in 2026.

The sale of Allan

FIFA's figures do not break the total down by player or by club. The period includes, for example, the sale of Allan from Palmeiras to Manchester City, announced by the English club on 31 August. According to Brazilian outlet ge, the deal was worth 40 million euros, 37.5 million fixed and 2.5 million in add-ons. In FIFA's calculation, conditional add-ons count towards the transfer fee, which is treated as paid up front, even when the clubs agree on instalments.

Over the full year of 2025, Brazil led in numbers

By number of transfers in men's professional football, Brazil led the world in 2025. In its annual report published on 28 January 2026, FIFA recorded 1,190 incoming and 1,005 outgoing international transfers involving Brazilian clubs over the year. This is a different count from the dashboard's: the report covers the whole calendar year, from January to December, and the dashboard only the mid-year window.

How FIFA counts

The data covers only international transfers of professional players in men's 11-a-side football. The values are those declared by the clubs in FIFA's transfer system, and FIFA updates the figures every day. Those in this article are from the dashboard accessed on 18 September 2026 and may change.
